H.E. mr. Ken WU, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of the Netherlands cordially invites the members of de Nederlandsche Maatschappij voor Nijverheid en Handel to a meeting on China and Sino-Dutch relations.
The ambassador will speak about China and the Netherlands. Countries both located at the two ends of the Eurasian continent, that have been closely connected by maritime roads, and the silk road since more than 400 years ago. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the upgrade of diplomatic relationship to the ambassadorial level, bilateral relations have enjoyed substantial and rapid progress. In recent years, Chinese President Xi Jinping and H.M. King Willem-Alexander paid successful state visits to each other. Bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields has been deepened. People-to-people exchanges have become closer and more frequent. Sino-Dutch relations have been elevated to a higher level.
The ambassador will highlight the report that Xi Jinping delivered to the 19th National Congress on October 18, 2017. China will not close its door to the world; it will become more and more open. The One Belt and One Road Initiative, including the railway connecting our two countries (currently being realized), is a priority for China. Foreign trade will expand, new models and new forms of trade will be developed. China will adopt policies to promote high-standard liberalization and facilitation of trade.
The ambassador will reflect on the impact of these developments, also in terms of security at all levels. Because trends of global multi-polarity, economic globalization, IT application, and cultural diversity are surging forward; changes in the global governance system and the international order are speeding up; our countries are becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent. This will affect us all.
Culture and education will be discussed also. Many succesful exchanges between China and The Netherlands are being worked at. The Groningen University Campus in China, and the Confusius institutes in The Netherlands are interesting examples.
We rest assure that this meeting will be extremely interesting to both parties. We are looking forward to see you in January. This event is co-organised with the support of Dutch Chinese Young Entrepreneurs Foundation.
